Lucknow, March 6 (IANS) Cine star-turned-politician Jaya Prada faced a humiliation in Rampur, her candidate losing badly to old foe and Samajwadi Party veteran Mohammed Azam Khan.
Jaya Prada, who broke away from the Samajwadi Party along with Amar Singh, put all her prestige at stake by backing the candidature of Reshma Bi. She and Amar Singh campaigned for days in Rampur.
But Reshma Bi finished in the sixth place with a paltry 4,407 votes. Azam Khan won with an impressive 95,772 votes. The Congress came second and the Bahujan Samaj Party third.
